【摘要】:ThispracticeappliestoandestablishesamethodtomeasuretheimagingperformanceofX-raysystemsusedforthescreeningforprohibiteditemssuchasweapons,explosivesandexplosivedevicesinbaggage,packages,cargoormail.ThispracticeisintendedforusebymanufacturerstoassessperformanceandbyevaluatorsofsecurityandcontrabandscreeningX-raysystemstoverifyperformance.ThispracticeisintendedtoestablishwhetheranX-raysystemmeetsthemanufacturer’specificationorifthesystem’performancehasdeterioratedovertime.Thispracticemaybeusedformanufacturingcontrol,specificationacceptance,serviceevaluationorregulatorystatutes.Thispracticeisintendedforuseatboththepointofmanufactureandwherethesystemisoperated.Thelatterincludeslocationssuchassecuritycheckpointsoftransportationterminals,nuclearpowerstations,correctionalinstitutions,corporatemailrooms,governmentofficesandothersecurityareas.ThemostsignificantattributesofthispracticearethedesignofastandardTestObjectandstandardmethodsfordeterminingtheperformancelevelsofthesystem.InscreeningobjectswithX-raysystemsvideoimagesaretheprimaryinputsprovidedtooperators.Thebetterthequalityoftheseimages,thebetterthepotentialperformanceoftheoperator.1.1ThispracticeappliestoallX-raybasedscreeningsystems,withtunnelaperturesupto1mwide1mhigh,whetheritisaconventionalX-raysystemoranexplosivesdetectionsystem(EDS)thatprovidesaprojectionorprojection/scatterimageforanoperatortointerpret.1.2ThispracticeappliestoX-raysystemsusedforthescreeningforprohibiteditemssuchasweapons,explosives,andexplosivedevicesinbaggage,packages,cargo,ormail.1.3Thispracticeestablishesquantitativeandqualitativemethodsforevaluatingthesystems.Thispracticedoesnotestablishminimumperformancerequirementsforanyparticularapplication.1.4ThevaluesasstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.5Thispracticereliesupontheuseofastandardtestobject(ASTMX-rayTestObject)todeterminetheapplicableperformancelevelsofthesystems.Thespecifictestobjectissubsequentlydescribedandreferredtointhisdocumentasthe"TestObject."1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ExamplesareTitle21CodeofFederalRegulations,Section1020.40intheUnitedStatesandHealthSafetyRegulationNo.1333intheUnitedKingdom.1.7FilmSafety8212;Iffilmsafety,definedas2.58x10-7C/kg(1mR)perscreening,isofimportance,refertoTestMethodF1039.
